Abstract

This communication article presents the work and preliminary results of a university extension project in progress,  called “Redescubriendo los Humedales de Berisso: Talleres de Educación Ambiental (Rediscovering Wetlands of Berisso: Environmental Education Workshops)”, began in 2017 and continues to the present, accredited and subsidized by Universidad Nacional de La Plata (National University of La Plata) (UNLP). The executing Academic Unit is Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo (Natural Sciences and Museum College, UNLP). The project is intended for basic elementary schoolkids (between 7 and 9 years old) from schools in the Berisso, Ensenada and La Plata district (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Due to the Preventive and Mandatory Social Isolation, a product of the Covid-19 Pandemic, from March 2020 to March 2021, the planned activities of the project were adapted in order to contribute to the current socio-environmental demands of the members of the community with whom we set out to work. The material and the adapted contents (booklets, games, guides) were maded by the extension team in a collaborative way and shared with the teachers of the schools by e-mail, digital platforms and social networks open to the general public.
