The purpose of this study was to carry out a systematic review of the scientific literature, with search guidelines, of articles published in recent years on Ethics in dental research. Preliminary searches were carried out in Spanish and English, using ethics in dental research as keywords, in the reference databases Scielo and VHL, which yielded 1,635 results. Subsequently, it was limited to publications of the last 15 years, thus obtaining a sample of 243 articles. Of the total, 18 articles were found in the Scielo database, representing 83.3%. The language that was most reported in the results was Spanish 83.3%. The countries where it was published the most were Cuba and Chile (33.3%). The journals in Spanish with the most publications were the Cuban Journal of Stomatology and the Clinical Journal of Periodontics, Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation (33.3%). From the processed sample, the small number of publications related to ethics in dental research is concluded. Although it is a topic of relevance due to its influence in the field of scientific research in animals and humans, the review of its processes is still a pending debt.
