In horticulture, the use of chemicals is the main pest control method. In the search of effective pest control compounds that are innocuous for humans and less harmful to the environment, the flavanone molecule was synthesized through a low environmental impact procedure with an excellent performance, by cyclodehydration reaction of 2-hydroxychalcone and using a catalyst of Preyssler structure. The plant-insect interaction was evaluated to measure the repellent or attraction effect of the flavanone compound on Aulacorthum solani. Moreover, the phytotoxic effect of flavanone applications was measured in lettuce seedlings.
