Abstract

The multimodal approach examines how people interpret the world using not only verbal communication but various semiotic modes. This approach is crucial for learning oral skills in foreign languages, as it challenges the traditional view that focuses on verbal language as the mode of communication. In this way, resources such as images, sound, gestures, pitch, etc. are validated as the foundations of oral interaction. Thus, meaning making through multiple systems and socially organized modes is regarded of great value.
