Abstract

The article discusses some relevant theoretical and empirical elements in the Bolivian political process with the rise of Evo Morales as president of the Republic. Multiculturalism is seen as a conceptual device that helps to understand the events of the XX and XXI century in Bolivia, though its features need looks more complex than those assertions in defense of the differences. The Bolivian politics XXI century –the rise of Evo Morales and the indigenous movement and mining a political alliance– as associated with the traditional organization of the state. Presented a historical overview is given Bolivia in the struggle between different social groups and the complex logic of representation and political organization - the Western state logic and the logic of indigenous political organization.
