Abstract

Despite the statement made by the Democratic Peace Theory about the importance of democracy in International Relations, democratic countries seem not to be necessarily implicated in democratic transitions. In this sense, these countries demonstrate a foreign policy that seeks to satisfy their own interests: while they still take into account the international community’s interest in a peaceful world, they will also take into account their national interests, especially those relating to their security, giving priority to the latter. Using these latest events that took place within the countries involved in the Arab Spring from 2010-onwards, we will get demonstrate the weak commitment of certain occidental powers, notably the United States, to promote and support democratization processes.
