Abstract

This article discusses the progress made by the Commission´s and the Human Rights Council of the United Nations’ work on the conceptualization and legal protection of international solidarity.

This debate is particularly important for the South, going far beyond its traditional condition of international cooperation receptor, because the discussions point to the renewed persistence of the North–South divide and to their ability to think from the world system´s margins and contribute with their own worldviews in order to build a global community, as opposed to an international society.
