Abstract

Although the Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union updated some old European security approaches, the risks arising from climate change were not incorporated into the list of the main security challenges of this organization. However, recently the European Union has assumed a certain leadership role with the aim of promoting climate security in multilateral forums, warning that this issue is one of the main contemporary challenges for international security. However, the development to integrate this perspective into the EU security policy is limited, and there is, at present, a significant distance between words and deeds.
