About the Journal

AAHD Publications (ISSN 2718-7470)

Continuous publication scientific journal dedicated to disseminate original and unpublished research papers, translations, and critical reviews on topics related to Digital Humanities.

Focus and SCOPE

Publicaciones de la Asociación Argentina de Humanidades Digitales (PublicAAHD) is a double-blind, peer-reviewed digital journal with a continuous publication periodicity, edited by the National University of La Plata (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and the Argentine Association of Digital Humanities (AAHD).

PublicAAHD understands the activity of scientific publication as "what belongs to the people" (Francisco del Rosal, Diccionario de 1611). Thus, PublicAAHD unites research on Digital Humanities with what is public and open. Its objective is to disseminate original and unpublished research works, in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, in the field of Digital Humanities, both nationally and internationally.

We understand Digital Humanities as a type of research where digital and computational methodologies, processes, and tools work with the approaches and contents of the Humanities, generating new working hypotheses or supporting already known ones. In this dialogue between quantitative and qualitative and interdisciplinary aspects, this field grows.

PublicAAHD's topics of interest are:

  • Research-creation experiences at the intersection between the Arts, Humanities, Design, Information Sciences, and Computing
  • Digital Public Humanities
  • Archives and Digital Libraries
  • Digital History
  • Digital History of Art
  • Digital Archeology
  • Digital Musicology
  • Digital editions, TEI marking, Stylometry, and Digital Philology
  • Algorithmic Data Analysis, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence in Digital Humanities
  • Teaching Digital Humanities
  • Humanities Data Mining
  • Digital Preservation and Humanities
  • Humanities Data Curation
  • Digital Pedagogies in Digital Humanities
  • Genealogies of the intersections between Computing and Humanities in the region
  • Digital Infrastructures for the Humanities
  • Humanities Data Modeling and Visualization
  • Geospatial, Statistical, and Network Analysis
  • Prototyping of HD projects
  • Multilingualism and Geographic Diversity in HD
  • Corpus Linguistics
  • Cultural Heritage and HD
  • Technological appropriation and digital gaps in HD
  • Works that provide information on local and regional interests will be accepted, as long as they contain due justification, discussion, and adaptation to the topics and standards of the journal.

Considering the high volume of submissions, authors interested in publishing with the journal should note that the average time from submission to acceptance typically ranges from six months to a year.

Regarding papers written in accepted foreign languages, the journal will publish a maximum of 50% of the total papers in languages other than Spanish (Portuguese and/or English) in each volume.

The journal supports the movement of open access to knowledge as a common good, which is why it provides immediate and complete access to all its content and its editions have no charges for authors or readers.

Likewise, it allows and promotes simultaneous publication (preprints) in self-archiving systems or institutional repositories. We make our Zenodo repository available for depositing your preprint or data set.

The journal reserves the right to accept or not the contributions received, in accordance with its thematic scope and compliance with its editorial standards.

The opinions issued by the authors of the articles are their sole responsibility.

PUBLICATION frequency

PublicAAHD uses a continuous publication system. Continuous publication is an efficient and immediate way to carry out the editorial process. Waiting times in the editorial process are shortened, which benefits all participants in its cycle, without altering the quality of the articles, which are subjected to the same processes of submission, review, and acceptance. In this modality, articles do not have to wait for a group of other articles or other elements for publication.

LANGUAGES of the journal

Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Double-blind peer REVIEW system

The evaluation method for the submitted works will be double-blind peer-review. The works will be reviewed anonymously by external reviewers, and their observations will be sent to the respective authors who will remain anonymous, for necessary modifications. The main editors and editorial board of the journal will ultimately decide on the publication of the works according to the external reviewers' reports.

Acknowledgement of all received works will be sent, and within a maximum of four months, a decision will be made on the publication of the works. Publication may be conditioned on the introduction of changes regarding the original version, especially to adapt to publication standards. Articles returned for not complying with publication standards can be resubmitted once the necessary modifications have been made.

OPEN ACCESS Policy

The journal promotes and supports the movement of open access to knowledge as a common good, which is why it it offers unrestricted and full access to all its content without charges for both authors and readers. This is based on the principle that providing scientific and academic outputs to society without limitations enhances the exchange of knowledge on a global scale.

PublicAAHD adheres to the Declaration of Mexico in favor of the Latin American ecosystem of non-commercial open access that recommends using the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License (CC BY-SA) to guarantee the protection of regional academic and scientific production in open access.

ARCHIVE and SELF-ARCHIVE Policy

Archival Policy: The journal uses the LOCKSS system through PKP PN to create a distributed archive among participating libraries. This allows these libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for preservation and restoration purposes.

Self-archiving policy: PublicAAHD allows the self-archiving of the pre-print and post-print version, both on the personal websites of the authors and in institutional and thematic repositories, such as the Digital Humanities repository we make available for this purpose.

PRESERVATION Policy

Materials published in this journal are deposited in SEDICI, the institutional repository of the National University of La Plata. Automatic backups and remote copies, format adaptations, integrity checks, and other activities required to ensure digital preservation are carried out through this repository.

SEDICI's preservation policies can be found at http://sedici.unlp.edu.ar/pages/politicas#preservacion

INTEROPERABILITY protocol

PublicAAHD is published through OJS (Open Journals System) and incorporates the OAI-PMH (Open Archive Initiative-Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interoperability protocol at the URL https://revistas.unlp.edu.ar/publicaahd/index. This allows for obtaining different formats for metadata (rfc1807, nlm, marcxml, oai_marc, and oai_dc) by entering the corresponding acronym as a value for the metadataPrefix parameter in the URL.
