Pre diagnosis of the situation of management research in Argentina

In recent years there has been a great development of the disciplinary field of the Administration that translates especially in the increasing number of university courses dealing with their various specialties at undergraduate and postgraduate level, the flourishing number of students enrolled and the continuous emergence of new literature, that often become bestsellers. However, it should be mentioned that this phenomenon has not been accompanied by a similar development of the research activity. The paper tries to set forth a pre-diagnosis of the research situation in Management. It is noted a low degree of research development, mainly because of lack of tradition, lack of knowledge about how to develop it and some lack of interest on the part of management professionals. It uses different sources of information (national and from Latin America) and raises various scenarios with reference to the events detected. A major problem seems to be lack of "vocations" for performing research tasks with relevant continuity. Neither seems to be an important collaboration from students and young graduates. What seems to contribute to this situation is the high employability of management professionals, who would rather join companies or public bodies to develop their careers than perform research tasks. Difficulties also arise in interaction and dissemination of knowledge generated both by the transference to education and the productive sector.
