Economía Matemática, su evolución histórica y estado actual
Keywords:
economía matemáticaAbstract
A brief survey of the field of Mathematical Economics is given. An initial historical review divides the fields into a first marginalist period, one of the use of set theory and linear models, and one of integration of the two previous ones. Next the evolution of the field of General Equilibrium Theory is analyzed, starting with Quesnay, continuing with Walras and following developments, until its culmination with the works of Arrow and Debreu and their contemporaries. Finally the evolution of the problem of computing solutions to the General Equilibrium Model for its application to Economic Policy is described. It is here that the author is able to bring to bear his knowledge in his capacity of direct participant, in order to show the difficulties inherent in the problem and to discover methods for their solution.
