Una evaluación empírica de la eficiencia económica y de los costos de protección en el caso argentino 1973-1974

Abstract

This study intents to measure, in the case of the Argentine economy in 1973-74, the economic efficiency of the international goods producing activities, for which purpose the domestic resource cost for each activity was obtained. The main results are: a) a ranking of 170 activities and their separation between efficient and inefficient ones; b) the measure of the efficiency of each activity and the degree of efficiency, positive or negative, received as an externality by each one and c) the cost of protection for the economy, which oscillates between 6% and 11% of the GDP according to what range of variation is adopted for the shadow price of the foreign currency.
