Abstract

This paper analytically explores the postulated relationships between technical change, real wage rate changes (institutionally given) and international terms - of- trade implied by different models (e.g. R. PREBISCH's and A. ENMANUEL's). An extension to an open economy of P. SRAFFA's model is developed, and certain conditions for those results are found: on the other hand, it is proved that under certain other conditions the model yields the exactly opposite results.
