Abstract

This article aims to describe the strategy of isolation of Venezuela in Latin America during the last year of Obama Administration and the current one of Donald Trump (2016-2018) in the general frame of the United States’ foreign policy of promotion of the liberal democracy in the region. To achieve this objective, we will investigate the different means that the Government of the United States uses to implement this strategy, what we will call here a multi-track approach or diplomacy, and we will deepen the role played by Argentina in this strategy as regional ally of the United States during the Administration of Mauricio Macri, period of time that justifies the time frame chosen.
