The Covid-19 pandemic has led to changes in the motivations and requirements of tourism demand. In this way, some territories have been revalued in their characteristic features, when they favor the development of experiences or alternative practices in contact with nature in environments with landscape and environmental quality. These processes bring urban growth from commercial development and foster conflicts with local inhabitants, when they have a different vision about the development of their territory and the type of tourism desired.
In line with the above, this research addresses the case of Chapadmalal (coastal town of the Partido de General Pueyrredon, province of Buenos Aires) and analyzes the senses and neighborhood practices around tourism management in the town, considering its actual and potential manifestations. Specifically, civil society organizations, citizen assemblies and groups that belong to the locality, from a qualitative approach. It is observed that the territory is at a turning point that requires the intervention of public policies and the academia to strengthen community initiatives for tourism planning.
