Innovation, Learning and Networks in Worker Cooperatives

This article explores the processes of innovation and learning in worker cooperatives, understood as central actors within the Social and Solidarity Economy. Based on an evolutionary theoretical approach, it analyzes how cooperatives generate and adapt specific knowledge to improve their sustainability and economic viability. The study focuses on the city of Córdoba, Argentina, where different types of worker cooperatives are analyzed and innovations, including the so-called institutional innovations, are identified. The importance of prior organizational capabilities and membership in networks that allow articulation with other actors is highlighted. Based on empirical evidence, some proposals are presented that could guide specific public policies for these actors.
