Water science and technology in Argentina

The National Water Institute of Argentina (INA) is a scientific-technological organization with more than fifty years of experience in research, development and provision of specialized services. It has contributed to national development, offering technical and scientific solutions to complex water problems. Its federal structure has allowed for a regional and national approach with a holistic focus. This article reviews the historical ups and downs of Argentina's water science and technology policy and the institutions in charge of its implementation. It is concluded that, in view of current challenges, innovative tools and perspectives are required and it is crucial for the country to have an organization such as the INA, which should strengthen its technical capacities and sustain its lines of action, strengthening the planning and execution of related policies
