Based on field research, the strategies deployed by various research groups of the National University of San Martín are described in the context of underfunding of science and technology, which took place in Argentina between 2016-2019. The impact of the policies carried out in that period on the daily research dynamics of these groups is analyzed. It shows how scientific work in this context of underfunding, ended up "taken" by a survival logic to be able to sustain it, and the different alternatives developed for this purpose are described.
