Fragments of the work of classic authors of Latin American Thought in Science, Technology and Development (PLACTED) are presented. In this issue, we include excerpts from Orlando Fals Borda (1925 – 2008), who was a renowned Colombian intellectual and militant. Trained in letters, his field of specialization was sociology, becoming one of the most outstanding and original researchers of the discipline at a continental level. Together with Camilo Torres Restrepo (1929 – 1966) he founded one of the first Faculties of Sociology in Latin America at the National University of Colombia, of which he was also the first dean.
