Abstract

After decades of hegemony, the innovation framework oriented towards competitiveness and commercialization of knowledge has begun to be questioned, pointing out its difficulties in facing global challenges, such as the climate crisis and growing social inequality. The review of these ideas coincides with a new great wave of technological change led by automation and artificial intelligence technologies. Based on a review of the literature on open and collaborative science and innovation, this paper reflects on the role that emerging actors should play in new innovation frameworks and how to co-create with them a plurality of models towards more democratic, fair and sustainable forms of development.
