This article analyzes the trajectory of science policy in the province of San Juan since the creation, in 2012, of the Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Provincial Innovation. Its ministerial rank allowed science and technology to begin to be part of the planning and policies carried out by the provincial government until 2023. We discuss the changes that took place as of 2021, and the impact that this institutional innovation had, in particular the design and implementation of the Provincial Strategic Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation, and present the main current challenges faced by the province.
