Argentina is a peripheral country, dependent on foreign powers in issues related to many knowledge-intensive technologies, even though, throughout its history has managed to reach some sovereignty in others, such as the nuclear field. Regarding the air traffic and air space surveillance and control, the technological sovereignty was achieved, in a dependent context, after more than 50 years of learning, and as result of the interaction between the Argentinian Air Force and the company INVAP SE. The article reviews the history of air traffic control and surveillance policy in the country, explains the context in which this public policy incorporated the national development of radar technology since 2004 and presents its implementation by different governments until 2018.
