The monstrous as a construct

Monster is the name director Patty Jenkins chose in 2003 for the movie which would portray that period of Aileen Wuornos’s life since she meets Selby Wall until her execution in 2002 after having been found guilty of murdering six men. This article analyzes the way Jenkins addresses both delicately and empathically a complex issue which had polarized public opinion and rewrites the story with the humanity journalistic and psychiatric discourses lacked, thus highlighting processes of deep precariousness left out of the analysis.
