La sostenibilidad como dimensión transversal en la competitividad turística
Una revisión crítica de la evolución del TTDI

El nuevo Índice de Desarrollo de los Viajes y el Turismo (TTDI) del Foro Económico Mundial, una actualización del anterior Índice de Competitividad Turística (TTCI), representa un avance inicial hacia una mayor preocupación por abordar la contribución del turismo al desarrollo sostenible. Este estudio revisa los principales cambios introducidos en la evolución del índice, que adopta un enfoque metodológico distinto al incorporar más dimensiones, pilares y variables. Se busca responder a críticas anteriores y ofrecer una medida actualizada del desarrollo y la competitividad de los destinos. La inclusión de la sostenibilidad como una nueva dimensión refleja esta preocupación creciente. A pesar de los esfuerzos por ofrecer una visión más amplia con un enfoque en el desarrollo, adoptar una perspectiva verdaderamente holística sobre la sostenibilidad sigue siendo un desafío aún pendiente.
