This paper analyzes, from a Global South perspective, the place of science and technology in today’s world, taking into account the evolution of the capitalist system from the mid-20th century to the present. The article briefly develops the concept of Global North and South and discusses the challenges that countries in the Global South face in terms of science and technology policies, as well as the different strategies that some of these countries have used and that could be replicated in others.
