Relevant aspects of the science and technology system of the People's Republic of China, the institutional structure and strategic planning of the sector are presented and the main reforms that allowed the economic and scientific-technological takeoff of the Asian country are characterized. On the other hand, Sino-Argentine cooperation in S&T is analyzed based on bilateral treaties and compared with similar treaties established with the United States. In particular, cooperation in the field of biotechnology and the nuclear sector is discussed. The analysis of the phenomenon of Chinese technological take-off allows us to reflect on the challenges, opportunities and lessons they provide. It also provides ideas and alternatives to build a national and regional development strategy focused on productive transformation, labor, sovereignty and inclusion.
