Productive integration and regional development: debates in a global crisis scenario
Keywords:
Regional integration, Development, Global crisisAbstract
Since the beginning of its years as a nation, the concepts of region and latinoamerican unity were at the core of the construction of argentinian national identity. On one hand, an isolationist idea that linked the country directly with Europe, with an international inclusion project based on the exportation of commodities. On the other hand, the regional political discourse was connected with the idea of industrial development and the possibility to generate an intraregional market to trade its manufactured goods.
In the background of the present global crisis, this scheme is in a crossroads: the relationship
between region and development is challenged.
In this context, this paper poses the question about the possibility of recovering the previous
state, by means of building common policies, specially related to productive integration.
